Design for reading

On the occasion of the Madrid Book Fair 2019, on 5 June of that year, Manuel Estrada opened an exhibition titled ‘Estrada, design for reading’, showing the most iconic covers designed by Manuel Estrada for publisher’s such as Alianza Editorial and El País. In the exhibition, visitors were able to observe the author’s creative process, along with a display of his notebooks of sketches and the preliminary studies for his works. The exhibition highlighted the importance of design in literature and the conceptual work involved in translating into a graphic reflection the literary works of authors as diverse as Homer or Saramago.
The exhibition included texts by Alberto Manguel, Juan Cruz, Luis Alberto de Cuenca, Valeria Ciompi and José Saramago, among others.
